The part of the record that does not advertise itself.

What follows is limited to initiatives that appear in published reporting or in his own on-the-record statements. No figures are given for money raised or people helped, because no verified figures exist for them — and inventing them would defeat the purpose of the page.

01 Initiatives on the record

Initiatives

01

A free dialysis centre

Healthcare

The initiative most consistently identified in reporting on his philanthropy is a dialysis centre operated free of charge for patients who cannot meet the cost of treatment.

Dialysis is a particularly unforgiving expense: it is not a single procedure but a recurring one, several times a week, indefinitely. A family that can afford the first month often cannot afford the sixth. Removing the fee removes the point at which treatment usually stops.

02

Blood donation drives

Public health

He organises and supports blood donation camps, an activity reported consistently across profiles of his charitable work.

The commitment is a family one. When his mother, Kusumben Jeevanlal Lakhani, died, she donated her eyes and her skin — a decision he has spoken about publicly as an example rather than an exception.

03

Food for people in need

Welfare

Provision of meals for the underprivileged is among the activities he has described as continuing rather than occasional, and it appears in press accounts of his work across several years.

04

Books for students who cannot buy them

Education

School books are distributed to students in need. It is a small-sounding intervention with an outsized effect: in the Indian school system the cost of texts and materials is frequently the expense that pushes a child out of education, not the fees.

05

A birthday, and an awards night, given away

Community

In recent years he has chosen not to hold his customary birthday celebration — and, in at least one year, not to hold the company’s annual Bright Awards Night either — and to direct the resources instead to institutions serving blind and specially-abled people, orphanages and homes for the elderly.

For someone whose birthday parties have been reported in the entertainment press for years, and whose business is public visibility, the decision to cancel the most visible thing he does is a deliberate one.

06

Support for charitable institutions

Faith & community

A practising Jain, he has been publicly associated with the charitable and spiritual work of Shri Namramuni Maharaj, Pujya Gurudevshri Rakeshji and His Holiness Mahant Swami Maharaj, and has been invited as a guest of honour by the Brahma Kumaris.

02 Public and cultural life

Showing up is also a contribution, in an industry that runs on gathering.

Bright Outdoor Media’s annual awards night exists to recognise work in a sector that had no ceremony of its own — out-of-home media carries every other industry’s campaigns and is seldom credited for any of them. Its fifth edition, in Mumbai in September 2023, was also used to announce new programmes and partnerships.

He is a consistent presence at film, television and cultural events across Mumbai. In an industry where inventory is commoditised and relationships are not, that presence is part of how the business is actually conducted — and, as he puts it, “business may come through networking, but lasting bonds are always built on sincerity and mutual respect.”

What this page deliberately does not say

No monetary totals, beneficiary counts or programme durations appear above. Published sources describe these initiatives without quantifying them, and a page about integrity is the wrong place to start estimating. Where a figure becomes verifiable — through an audited CSR disclosure, for example — it belongs here; until then it does not.

Sources for every claim on this page are listed on the Media page.
